Only Excellence Matters

The Women in Surgery Switzerland association aims to ensure that the best in the field are in the operating room. We make female role models in surgery visible, network them nationally and internationally and give them visibility. We are committed to contemporary surgery in which one criterion counts when filling positions: excellence. Women in Surgery Switzerland (WiSS) was founded on September 27, 2023 as the first association of its kind in Switzerland and wants to work together for change and the pursuit of qualitative, modern surgery.

Vision

Over the last 100 years, the role of women in surgery has changed significantly - what is possible today was hardly imaginable back then. Nevertheless, barriers and grievances still exist that need to be addressed and broken down. We are convinced that women and men in surgical disciplines would benefit from this - which in turn would benefit patients. Our vision is modern working practices in surgery, fair treatment of one another and transparent training in order to produce motivated and competent surgeons.
