Why?

Age doesn't necessarily correspond to biological age; nowadays, you can still be fit and professionally active after the age of 65. But everyone, including surgeons, is subject to the ageing process. A self-assessment of one's own suitability, physical and technical abilities is often arbitrary. The Senior Surgeon Assessment (SSA) aims to provide an objective and neutral assessment. The SSA is a voluntary evaluation tool for surgeons by surgeons.

How?

Senior Surgeon Assessment - 3 steps
The assessment starts with an interview with the experts about the candidate's state of health, current surgical activity (portfolio) and future career plans. In phase two, a surgical procedure is performed in the presence of the experts and the surgical staff (anesthesiologist, scrub nurse), who know the candidates well, are interviewed. Finally, a discussion takes place between the team of experts and the candidate with the formulation of recommendations for further professional activity.
